new drawings, familiar faces

Welcome to the new and improved Doodle and Hoob!  The link images for my new front page took up so much time this week, I didn’t do my regular Sunday drawing.  Instead, here are larger versions of the links for you to peruse.

I actually drew this first one a couple of weeks ago, before I drew “endgame …”  Maybe it’s the same guy – who some of you have assumed is my husband.  I guess I see the resemblance.  Whoever he is, he must be pretty secure in his masculinity to hang out with so many bears.  Any guesses on what the bear is saying?

I apologize for the extra click to get to the blog, now.  For those of you with severe cases of impatience/carpal tunnel, you can always just bookmark this page.  This drawing was inspired by the seriously dorky cool Moleskine flickr groups.

Don’t bother trying to read my “Latin” (you know you want to).  It’s just Lorem ipsum.

Woodland creatures dig my stuff.  Or maybe they’re just freaking themselves out contemplating the horrors of formaldehyde.

Check out my shop to see the new banner I made using last week’s drawing.

I love how you’re not allowed to smile in passport pictures.  I got Doodle’s passport when he was just about a year old.  It took at least a half an hour to get the shot because he wouldn’t close his mouth!

Now that I have a nice new link to my “about me” page, I really need to update my info and picture…  Maybe next week.

Janus senses change

doodleandhoobbanner-blog

I was checking out my shop the other day and decided that my old shop banner just isn’t cutting it anymore.  Yeah, I know, everyone loves an aye aye, right?  While this is true, I still think I’m ready for a change after almost a year.  So, this week I offer up a drawing of Doodle and Hoob which may or may not end up being incorporated into a new shop banner.

I drew this picture before naming it (as usual), and, although it immediately reminded me of Janus, I’ve only just noticed how appropriate the connection is to our current situation.  This January brings not only a new year, but also a new baby into our lives.  Poor Doodle and Hoob will have a lot to deal with.  Perhaps we should get on with some invoking.

I’ve spent the last hour or so mesmerized by complex and often hilarious chess terminology.  I haven’t played chess for years, but am thinking that my lazy brain would be in significantly better shape if I took it up.  I’ll have to work on my sportsmanship, though, because I seem to have a habit of flipping the board when things aren’t going my way, and apparently that’s not cool.  If I ever found myself playing any large carnivore, though, I’m pretty sure I would gracefully let him or her win.

Check out the new “gallery” tab at the top of the page.  More site spiffing to come…

an unforeseen benefit of having an attic bedroom

Snow day!  It hasn’t snowed here yet, but there are rumours floating around about snow nearby.  We got a couple of pretty good snows last year, but it’s been years since I’ve lived somewhere with really satisfying winters.  My husband’s newfangled snowshoes haven’t even been out to play since Kalamazoo (um… three cities and four years ago).  I can’t look at old school snowshoes like these ones without thinking about my old friend Tammy, who, while snowshoeing with our grade 4/5 class at a nearby nature centre, managed to break her thumb.  How the?  Snowshoeing accident… really?  Her cast was pretty sweet, though, and I was a little bit jealous of it.  I wonder if Tammy ever thinks about that fateful day in Eden Mills.  Facebook, here I come…
